Pre Challenge Assessment 2

So, Lidl, Aldi it is for me!

Specially as I am trying to cut weight for my boxing matches, this is going to be particularly hard!

Unless I'm willing to go a little hungry, £10 is not possible to eat with unless I'm eating biscuits and water most days.

Pre Challenge Assessment 1

So I've now looked inside my cupboard and realised that I have enough pasta to last me a while, a bit of rice and a few cans of baked beans and kidney beans.

We are going by the rule where you can use the stuff already inside your cupboards and fridge.
This challenge isn't to make you starve and harm yourself, it's just to raise awareness to your expenditure and to understand that there ARE people out there living on less than £10 a week.

It turns out that my lovely girlfriend is also joining me, which brings our total up to £20 a week between the two of us. Which in my opinion makes this slightly easier as we can bulk buy and cook.

Also, I come home today and find this in the kitchen,

The girlfriend put an egg in the microwave for too long and it exploded... So that's 11 pence wasted lol!

Well, I reckon that while £10 is a little too less than I can manage, I am looking at ways recently to spend less. The obvious ways are no tale aways and more eating at home, do I really need that bottle of wine, can I get by without French bead and just buy regular slices bread?

A lot of things we do can be scaled back. And I'm already starting to see the difference and how I can start saving money.

Start of a Food Challenge

A fellow academic at university has issued a challenge for a few of us.

We have been known to eat a little extravagantly, in a recent survey we found that our average food bill per week was bordering £50 and for a student, that is absurd.
Coupled with an expensive hobby, see my other blog for details, no wonder modern day students are always complaining of no money. Yet we still have money for alcohol....?
😐

So, as part of a food awareness campaign, we decided to try survive on £10 food per week. That means the cost of meals, including lunch, dinner, breakfast had to be included to!

We were also challenged to keep spending to minimum for the week. Seeing how much money we could save if we really put our mind to it.
It is also done to open up our eyes, to see how much we really spend. As debt is rife among the younger generations, this maybe a good opportunity to re-evaluate my own finances!

So this blog is here to detail my personal experience in this challenge!
I hope it proves fruitful.
